Profiles — Chief Guest & Keynote Speakers

Professor Sakhela Buhlungu — Chief Guest

Position: Vice-Chancellor & Principal, University of Fort Hare (UFH), South Africa

Professor Buhlungu has served in senior academic roles at several South African universities including UCT, University of Pretoria and the University of the Witwatersrand. He is the author/editor of multiple books and over seventy scholarly publications in labour studies. He holds a PhD in Sociology (Wits) and has been an active contributor to debates on social change and transformation in South Africa.

Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka — Doctoral Symposium Keynote

Position: CEO, MAT Abacus Business School

Prof. Sejjaaka is a seasoned academic, professional accountant and board director with more than 30 years' experience. He was a senior lecturer and deputy principal at Makerere University Business School before establishing Abacus Business School.

Prof. Nixon Kamukama — Academic Conference Keynote (24 Sept)

Title: "The unwritten rules of scholarly publishing: Strategies to go from rejection to recognition"

Prof. Kamukama is a CPA and scholar with a PhD in Business and an extensive academic career including senior roles at Makerere University Business School and as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) at MUST Mbarara.

Dr. Safinah Kisu Museene — Academic Conference Keynote (25 Sept)

Title: "Bridging the Skills Gap: Public-Private Partnerships for Workforce Readiness"

Dr. Museene is Commissioner, BTVET at the Ministry of Education and Sports, with extensive experience in curriculum design, higher education and nursing practice. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Cape Town.

Mr. Ernest Rubondo — Business Forum Keynote (26 Sept)

Title: "The Future of Work: Developments in the Oil & Gas Sector and employability in Africa"

Mr. Rubondo is Executive Director, Petroleum Authority of Uganda. He has led the country's oil & gas technical and regulatory work and played central roles in national policy and negotiations.

Mr. Ivan Asiimwe — Closing (Business Forum)

Position: General Secretary & CEO, Uganda Cooperative Alliance

Mr. Asiimwe represents cooperatives across Uganda and Africa and brings significant experience championing cooperative development and policy.
